New boiler installation process
People often worry that getting a new boiler installed could be quite disruptive as installations can sometimes take a fair amount of time.
We use a leading boiler installer who always seeks to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum and the process is as seamless as possible. Here is what will happen…
Before the installation takes place, you will have an appointment arranged with a surveyor at a time appropriate for you. When the surveyor visits they will look at your boiler’s current position, your water pressure, number of radiators, position of flue, number of bathrooms and more. When they’ve got all the information, they will advise on the best way to install the boiler and discuss payment options.
On the day of installation, the engineer will typically arrive in the morning and you will need to allow the engineer access to your home. When the engineer has talked through the work that will need carrying out and how long it will take, you may be able to leave the property if you wish, until the job is finished. You’ll need to return at the end so that they can talk you through how your new boiler and controls work. Don’t worry, whilst your away mess will be kept to a minimum with dust sheets and carpet protectors.
After the installation, the new boiler will be tested to ensure it’s working as it should be and the area will be cleaned up. Once you’ve been shown how to operate the boiler you can expect a call to check that you were satisfied with the installation & engineer.
Do I need a new boiler?
Replacing a boiler can be expensive, so do you necessarily need to do it? It’s worth talking to a Gas Safe engineer before deciding. If you’re boiler is quite old, then it may not be worth repairing as older boilers typically aren’t as energy efficient, meaning your bills could be higher than they need to be.
In recent years boiler manufacturers have made significant strides in improving the energy efficiency of their products which now means that changing a boiler could pay for itself over the duration of the boilers lifespan due to the saving you could make on your energy bills.
There are a few key benefits to having a new boiler installed in your home, here are just a few:
✓ 2-10 years manufacturer-backed warranty
✓ Potential reduction in energy bills
✓ Typically easier to use & more functional controls
✓ Modern condensing boilers typically convert 90% of fuel into heat
